Beneficiaries of various empowerment programmes should endeavour to justify the gesture by ensuring their judicious use.

The Chairman, Ado Central Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Toyin Ojo gave the advice during cash empowerment of ninety selected vulnerable elderly men and women from seventy years and above by the council.

Hon. Ojo said the motive behind he programme is to uplift the vulnerable persons in the society. He admonished the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the money by taking good care of themselves. “We have a data base of all the aged of the four wards. We ensure that this particular set of people are the people that are actually vulnerable elderly in the society. The selected are the people we researched and discovered have no person to help them”.

The council chair remarked that the cash empowerment was the starting point for 2024 and will run for three years unlike similar ones in 2023 that could not be sustained. He gave his constituents an assurance that more programmes have equally been lined up for their benefit.

“We also have to showcase the programme of the first lady of the council. In that case we select people not from seventy and above, say from forty years, which could be for the widows. And by the time we do this we would have captured those that we have not captured. This programme is basically for people that are vulnerable, not for everybody”.
