Adeyemi College Of Education In Ondo Holds Ekiti Maiden Re-Union, Inaugurates, Elects Maiden Officers

The Adeyemi Federal College Of Education in Ondo has formally held it’s maiden re-union meeting, inauguration and election of it’s maiden Executives in it’s Ekiti State Branch.

Welcoming the Alumni members of the Adeyemi Federal College Of Education in Ondo to it’s maiden re-union meeting in Ado Ekiti on Saturday at the Ekiti State University Staff Club located at the popular Olora Lane, Federal Housing Road, the Convener of the meeting, Dr. Seun Oyewale commended members of the Association for turning out impressively to honour their Alma Mata in it’s maiden re-union meeting in Ekiti State.

The Convener, Dr. Seun Oyewale charged the members of the Association present at it’s maiden re-union not to be deterred by any situation or circumstance but to be encouraged by continuing participating in the future activities of the Association in the State. He also enjoined them to step up their efforts towards encouraging more old Students who are from Ekiti State to join their Alma Mata Association in the State.

In his own remarks, the representative of the Provost, Dr. Charles Adeniranye of the Defunct Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo, Dr. Samuel Akintunde advised the members of the Association in the State to be steadfast in their regular attendance at the meetings of the Alumni Association in Ekiti State.

Speaking with the PMParrot, Dr. Yemi Olugbamigbe, the Acting National Secretary of the Alumni Association of Adeyemi Federal College of Education in Ondo stated that, “Ekiti is a State referred to as Fountain of Knowledge. And I have not been disappointed by what I have seen here today. Just that it has taken us a long time to harness this resources of erudite scholar’s and the former scholars from that great Institution to properly organised the Alumni Association Branch in Ekiti State”.

 

He expressed ultimum satisfaction with the conduct and comportment of the members who attended the maiden re-union meeting in the State.

According to him, he said “I think what I have seen here today has shown that, people still have the interest of their Alma Mata at heart. And we will soon begin to reap the fruit of this coming together and the inauguration of this State Branch of the Alumni”, he affirmed.

He maintained that the products from Adeyemi, both as a College of Education and as a University of Education, has a tradition of doggedness to be relevant and make things happen wherever they find themselves.

He added that he believes that the new Executives was going to go act in line with the tradition of making their imparts and making people feel they reap the impart of their coming into the leadership of this Association at this very crucial time.

Continuing, Olugbamigbe revealed that Ekiti has one of the largest population of Alumni Association members of Adeyemi Federal College in Nigeria apart from Ondo and Osun States.

He used the opportunity to counsel the newly elected Executive Officers to go round, drive for the more members and get a representation of the people that are Alumni members of the Association.

He pointed out that he hoped, that, by the time the meeting holds again, that the numbers of members would have increased and that, it would have afford the Association to do a lot.

He called on members of the Alumni Association like Chief Ayo Ademilua (the Asaoye of Ikogosi Ekiti Kingdom), Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre and others who are former Students of Adeyemi College, and who are also prominent in Ekiti here to make their positive imparts to the growth of the Association in the State.

Dr. Olugbamigbe averred further that, by the time they all come in, the younger generation will benefit. Even the Institution will benefit and members will also have their own benefits from coming together.

He also expressed his assurance on the crop of new leaders installed to pilot the affairs of the Alumni Association in the State as a welcome development.

In an interview with PMParrot, Dr. Charles Adeniranye, the Acting Director, Directorate of Alumni Association and Statistics, Adeyemi Federal College of Education, Ondo who stood in for the current Provost of the College said, the Provost has congratulated the maiden Executives of the Alumni Association of the College.

Adeniranye said the Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde wants the maiden Executives to continue to do all in their powers to support the College and ensure that the College is taking to enviable heights.

Most importantly, the Provost was said to have seek the cooperation of the Alumni Association in Ekiti State to continue to elevate the College’s status. He pointed out that the College requires a lot of support from every member of the Alumni Association, and calls for every hands to be on the desk.

In his own words, the Provost stated that, “he is impressed by their spirit. I am impressed with the kind of camadwrie between them even though they are from different sectors. We have seen here today different sets from 1992 to 2007. And the relationship is such that you would not know that it’s been long they have been together. I am very impressed by it and I can say the Association in Ekiti State have a very bright future for the Alumni Association in Ekiti State”.

Meanwhile, during the election of the maiden Executives Members, Dr. Seun Oyewale was elected as the State Chairman; Mr. Tunbosun Akole as the Vice Chairman; Mr. Ademola Adetolaju as the State Secretary and Mr. Steve Oni as the Assistant State Secretary.

Others are Mr. Emmanuel Adeniran as the Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Mojisola Osanyilusi as the State Treasurer; Mrs. Ajayi Folakemi as the State Financial Secretary; Mr. Babalola Olutosin as the Social Director and Mrs. Adedeji Folakemi as the Welfare Officer.

In his own acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Dr. Seun Oyewale said “his election as the maiden State Chairman of the Alumni Association in Ekiti State is a Call to duty and a Call for responsibility. It’s a great task and I know with God, all things will become possible”.

He therefore uses the opportunity to seek for the support of every other members throughout the State and that of the new Executives. He expressed the optimistic that the Alumni Association is going to succeed in the State.
