Dear Father! Your greatest legacy was your unwavering faith in the Lord, a testament that blossomed within your sons, all of whom have become pastors, dedicated to spreading the Word he cherished.Beyond his spiritual guidance, Dad instilled in us a deep thirst for knowledge and a drive for excellence.

He was immensely proud as each of his children, including myself, earned doctorate degrees, his encouragement serving as a constant source of motivation and belief in our potential. His wisdom extended to practical matters, and the inheritances he thoughtfully left have provided a stable foundation for our families.

However, these blessings are always viewed through his teachings of responsible stewardship and the understanding that true wealth lies beyond material possessions.Crucially, Dad emphasized the importance of a personal relationship with God.

He didn’t want us to simply inherit his faith but urged us to seek our own understanding and connection through scripture, prayer, and listening for God’s voice. This focus on individual faith ensures his spiritual legacy continues to thrive within each of us.We deeply miss his wise counsel, his ability to offer clarity and reason in times of uncertainty.

His simple yet profound instructions to always strive for improvement and approach challenges with integrity are ingrained in our daily lives and work ethic. While the joy in our gatherings carries a note of absence, and holidays bear a poignant reminder of his empty chair, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the years we shared, the love he gave and the lasting legacies he created.

Even after a decade, our father’s essence is woven into the fabric of our being. His faith continues to inspire, his wisdom still guides, and his love endures in our hearts. We honour his memory by striving to live lives that reflect his values of faith, knowledge and integrity, carrying his torch forward into the future.

Though his physical presence is gone, his spirit lives on in all that we do.Continue to take your well deserved rest our father, small but mighty, the chariot and charioteer of the Olugbuyis clan in the Resurrection and the Life Himself till we meet to part no more.Sleep on Dad!!!

TRIBUTE FROM TOLULOPE ORUGBO

Dear Daddy,It’s been a whole decade without you. I miss you beyond words, yet my heart remains full of gratitude—because today, I find myself walking in your footsteps, doing all that you once did.Today, I teach—not just academics, but values.

I have come to understand that while students may eventually forget the lesson content, they will never forget the values, mindset, the shift in perspective, or the belief someone placed in them. When you transitioned, your church members made a shirt in your honour with the inscription, “Man of the Word.”

Now, all I desire is that people will say I am a woman of the Word, faithfully continuing the path you laid.I still read widely, but these days, I read the Bible even more—because it is the one book that continues to transform me from the inside out.So yes, I am truly my father’s daughter. One of the most profound lessons I have learned is how parents pass down values, beliefs, and even professions to their children.

That understanding has made me deeply intentional about the legacy I choose to pass on to your grandchildren.I miss you sorely, but knowing you are in a beautiful place and that we will see again is a comfort.

Thank you, Daddy—for giving us your all. I love you deeply. With love,

Your daughter, Tolulope.
