Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria PASAN and the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria JUSUN have jointly agreed to embark on a Nationwide protest over the inability of government to give full financial autonomy to legislative and judicial arms of government.
This decision was reached at a joint meeting held by the leadership of PASAN and JUSUN on the implementation of Financial Autonomy for the legislature and judiciary arms of government held today Friday April 16 2021in Abuja.
At the meeting, “it was observed to our dismay, how government have been footdraging and failed to put to practice the section of the constitution which they sworn to.
“Consequently, the Autonomy that was granted through the Nigeria constitution in the year 2018 and subsequently issued Executive order 10 by the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to suffer implementation by the relevant authorities.
“Therefore, the leadership of the Unions, unanimously resolved that if there is no positive responce for the implementation by the authorities on or before Mid-night of April 18 2021, the two Unions would not have any other option that to embark on joint Nationwide peaceful protest in the capital city of Abuja and 36 state capital.
“I wish to reiterate that all hands must be on deck in order to carry out the task when the need arises.
“My esteemed comrades, as the strike continues pls let us be resolute and committed to the struggle as the leadership of the Union would not leave any stone unturn until Autonomy for the State Legislature is fully granted. No retreat! No surrender!”
