…As Alumni Donate Sports, Office Equipment

It was the first day of November and it was the first working day of the week.A major first was recorded today at the Ekiti State Sports Council as the 1984-1990 set of Alumni Association of Christ School, Ado Ekiti donated some sports and office equipment to the sports council.

The president of the Association, Dr Dotun Adetuberu said the gesture was to identify with one of them, Mr Kunle Adeyemi who was appointed General Manager about two months ago.

The Alumni members thanked the governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi for approving the appointment of one of them as the Sports Council General Manager after due process was followed .

They said donation of the equipment was to complement government’s efforts at developing sports with a promise to embark on bigger projects and programs towards developing sports and encouraging sportsmen and women in the state.

The 1984+90 Christ School Alumni also commended the love and hospitality of the Sports Coucil Workers urging them to always cooperate with the General Manager and the entire management in their quest to turn the Sports Council around positivealy.

Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon.Micheal Awopetu who applauded the donors for the hand of love shown the Sports Council General Manager.

He described Christ School Alumni Association as outstanding in term of philanthropism and living up to social responsibilities urging other alumni associations to key into such philanthropic gesture.

Hon.Awopetu also urged the Chrst School Alumni to support the Ekiti State Sports Development Trust Fund which was recently approved by governor Fayemi saying it would bring about tremendous solace to the sports sector and lessen Sports Sectors’ over-dependence on government.

He congratulated the Sports Council for the new wave of development being witnessed within 6 months of the chairman and 2 months of the General Manager in the saddle.

On his path, the obviously elated Ekiti Sports Council General Manager, Mr Kunle Adeyemi thanked the Christ School 1984-90 set for the rare support with a promise not to let them down in professional conduct, accountablity and moral standard.

Mr Adeyemi said the donation was the first step in the series of plans aimed at touching the lives of the sports people in the state.

While calling for more dedication to duty and diligence from the staff, he saluted the commitment of the coaches and organizers at all times.

The coaches and staff who also gathered at the venue of the presentation described the donation as first of its kind as facilitated by a General Manager urging him to keep the fire burning .

They assured that all the equipment will be effectively utiliized .

The equipement included matressess, First Aid box , soccer balls, volleyballs, volleyball net, basketballs, tennis rackets and balls, table tennis bats and dozens of egg, a set of brand new computer and one new printer for office use.

All the equipment were presented to the Youth and Sports Commissioner who qlso handed them over to the Sports Council Management.
