When NSCDC Conducts Forensic Psychological Assessment For Arms Bear

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command on Thursday carried out forensic psychological assessment and evaluation for its armed personnel in order to determine armed personnel’s psychological status and fitness of the personnel.

According to the NSCDC spokesman in the State, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the assessment became imperative in order to any misuse of the firearms and cases of accidental discharge by the armed personnel.

” The Commandant General of the Corps Ahmed Audi directed the forensic and behavioral unit, NSCDC national headquarters, Abuja to carry out the exercise across all the 36 state commands with the aim of assessing their forensic and psychological fitness level in order to avoid any misuse of the firearms by the personnel” the spokesman disclosed.

He spoke further that the assessment exercise was declared open by the state Commandant Iskilu Ayinla Makinde who admonished the participating arms bearers to make good use of the opportunity and avoid any act that can tarnish the image of the Corps.

” The head of NSCDC forensic and behavioral unit in Abuja Dr Teeso Shapers conducted the exercise and also corroborated the fact that the exercise was the proactive measure to prevent unprofessional use of the firearms by the personnel”. Babawale added.

The NSCDC forensic and behavioral unit is saddled with responsibilities which include criminals nap psychological profiling, of the suspects, expert witness testimony, and forensic analysis of physical digital/ computer evedence. .
