Ekiti State Police Command Warns Against Destruction of Posters, Other Unlawful Acts.

The Ekiti State Police Command has observed with dismay the attitude of some persons suspected to be political parties loyalists who go about destroying and defacing the posters and bill-boards of political parties in the State.

The Command wishes to state emphatically that the destruction of banners and bill-boards of political parties is against the Electoral law and also a crime against the freedom of expression as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is morally unjustifiable, as well.

 

The Command warns that anyone or group of persons found in the ugly act or any act capable of undermining the peaceful atmosphere in the State will be severely dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.

 

Politicians are therefore, by this release, advised to play the games according to the rules, and advise their supporters to do the same to avoid dire consequences.

 

The Command implores parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against becoming tools in the hands of some mischievous politicians who are hell bent on jeopardizing the goal of a peaceful, free and credible elections.

 

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP FALADE ADEGOROYE MICHEAL, implores citizens to be law-abiding, vigilant and promptly report to the Police any person or group of persons who engage in acts that could cause unnecessary apprehension in the State.
