Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late Deputy Governor, Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka, describing her memory as one that continues to echo in the heart of Ekiti years after her passing.
In a solemn remembrance, Fayemi simply but poignantly wrote: “Rest on, Moremi Ekiti (1960–2013) – Deputy Governor, Ekiti State (2010–2013).”

Though brief, the message carried the weight of deep loss and enduring respect for a woman many fondly called Moremi Ekiti — a name that symbolised courage, loyalty, and selfless service.
Olayinka, who died in 2013 while in office after a battle with cancer, was more than a deputy to Fayemi; she was a trusted ally, a stabilising force, and a compassionate leader whose presence brought warmth to governance.
Those who worked closely with her recall her quiet strength, humility, and unwavering dedication to the people of Ekiti State. Even in the face of illness, she remained committed to her duties, embodying resilience and grace until her final days.
For many in Ekiti, her death was not just the loss of a public official, but the painful departure of a motherly figure who touched lives beyond politics.
Fayemi’s tribute, though understated, has rekindled memories of a partnership built on trust and shared vision, and of a woman whose legacy continues to inspire.
More than a decade after her passing, the name Moremi Ekiti still stirs emotion — a reminder of a life lived in service, and a void that time has yet to fill.
