Africa Spelling Bee Champion Honours ASUSS National President with Certificate
The 14-year-old Ekiti-born Africa Spelling Bee champion, Oluwadamilola Adeolu, on March 25, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Nigeria, Comrade Sola Adigun, where she presented her championship certificate and plaque.
Oluwadamilola, a student of St. Lawrence Academy, Ado-Ekiti, emerged winner of the 2026 African Spelling Bee (Junior Category), held in Harare, Zimbabwe, on March 20, 2026.
While receiving the young champion, Comrade Adigun congratulated her on the remarkable achievement, describing her victory as a source of pride to Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
He stressed the importance of celebrating and encouraging excellence wherever it is found, regardless of institutional background.
He noted that although Oluwadamilola attends a private secondary school, her success reflects the collective aspirations of educators and underscores the value of dedication, discipline, and quality teaching.
In recognition of her outstanding performance, the ASUSS National President announced a cash reward of ₦250,000 on behalf of the union, an additional ₦100,000 from the Juliana Oluwatosin Adigun Foundation, and a personal donation of ₦50,000 to the young champion.
