Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has charged over 5,000 canvassers mobilised for his re-election campaign to openly display their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a sign of commitment to democratic participation and responsible civic engagement.

The governor gave the charge during the inauguration of the canvassing team in Ado‑Ekiti, where he emphasized the importance of active voter participation as the election season gathers momentum in Ekiti State.

Addressing the canvassers, Oyebanji described the PVC as more than just a voting instrument, noting that it represents the power of the people in a democratic system. He urged the newly inaugurated volunteers to proudly display their cards while engaging with residents across communities.

According to the governor, the act of showing their PVCs would reinforce their credibility as advocates of democracy and encourage eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.

Oyebanji also tasked the canvassers with the responsibility of mobilising voters in a peaceful and responsible manner, stressing that the campaign should be driven by respect, persuasion, and constructive engagement rather than confrontation.

He noted that grassroots mobilisation remains a vital component of democratic politics and expressed confidence that the canvassers would help strengthen public participation ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The governor further called on the team to serve as ambassadors of peace and democratic values, urging them to promote unity and maintain decorum while reaching out to voters across the state.

The inauguration of the canvassing team is part of ongoing political mobilisation activities as stakeholders prepare for the upcoming governorship contest in Ekiti State.
