The Ekiti State House of Assembly has resumed legislative activities following the Christmas and New Year recess, with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, reaffirming the commitment of the 7th Assembly to institutional reforms, unity, and effective service delivery.

Speaking at plenary earlier this week, the Speaker expressed gratitude to lawmakers and staff of the Assembly for their cooperation, resilience, and steadfast support over the past year, noting that the House has continued to operate with remarkable unity and dedication despite prevailing challenges.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye particularly commended members and staff for their patience and sacrifices during the ongoing remodelling of the Assembly complex, describing the inconveniences endured over several months as a clear demonstration of commitment to institutional growth and progress.

“These sacrifices, though often unseen, are deeply valued and underscore our shared resolve to strengthen the legislature,” he said.

The Speaker also disclosed that the Assembly is making steady progress towards the realisation of a paperless legislature, with the successful test run of the Ekiti Assembly e-Parliament Legislative App marking a significant milestone in the drive to modernise legislative processes and improve efficiency.

In the course of the day’s proceedings, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye received an honorary award in recognition of his contributions to parliamentary service.

He accepted the honour with humility, attributing the achievements recorded so far to teamwork, cooperation, and the collective dedication of lawmakers and Assembly staff.

Looking ahead, the Speaker stated that the focus of the House remains on deepening institutional reforms, strengthening service delivery, and upholding the trust of the people of Ekiti State.

“Leadership demands foresight. As Peter Drucker observed, the best way to predict the future is to create it,” he noted.

He assured Ekiti residents that with unity of purpose and renewed responsibility, the 7th Assembly will continue to keep the flag flying in service to the people and the development of the state.
