OGOTUN & IGBARA-ODO: BAO’S FOOTPRINTS OF PROGRESS

OGOTUN & IGBARA-ODO: BAO’S FOOTPRINTS OF PROGRESS

By Hon. Michael Tolulope Ige, Majority Leader, Ekiti State House of Assembly

From the vibrant streets of Ogotun-Ekiti to the bustling communities of Igbara-Odo, the story of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) is one of quiet but undeniable transformation. This is governance that speaks in actions — projects you can see, touch, and feel, not empty promises or political noise.

*Lighting the Way: Electrification for All*
The extension of the 33 kV electricity line now serving Ogotun and Igbara-Odo is a game-changer. For the first time in decades, families are enjoying consistent power, small businesses are thriving, and students can study late into the night. This is the foundation of economic growth, and it is being laid right here in Ekiti South-West.

*Healthcare: Progress in Motion*
Healthcare is no longer a distant dream but a work in progress:

In Ogotun, the upgrade of the Basic Health Centre is ongoing, with a new pharmacy section, solar lighting, and modern equipment being installed.

In Igbara-Odo’s Igbon Community, works are also ongoing to modernize and fully equip the Primary Health Centre for better service delivery.

These upgrades are a promise of dignity and a future where no family will need to travel far for quality care.

*Roads that Empower*
Roads are more than asphalt; they are the arteries of development:

The rehabilitation of the Igbara-Odo–Ikogosi Road and the reconstruction of the Ikere–Igbara-Odo corridor are already opening up trade routes and reducing travel time.

The Ogotun–Ipole Road and Ogotun–Ikogosi Road have both been fully designed and await funding, proof of BAO’s long-term vision for connectivity and growth.

Ongoing culvert and drainage works in Ogotun are improving safety and reducing flood risks.

*Clean Water and Cultural Pride*
With newly drilled boreholes, clean and reliable water is now flowing in Ogotun and across Igbara-Odo, improving the quality of life for families and supporting local businesses. And with the renovation of the historic Ogotun Oba’s Palace, cultural pride is being restored while boosting the community’s potential for tourism.

*People-First Governance*
Governor Oyebanji has shown that good leadership starts with people:

₦1.1 billion paid in pensions to 672 retirees.

₦239.4 million paid in gratuities to 83 pensioners.

This is leadership that respects service, restores dignity, and builds trust between the government and its people.

*A Word to the Opposition*
To the opposition, I say this: come to Ogotun and Igbara-Odo. Walk our electrified streets, see our upgraded health facilities, drive on our rehabilitated roads, and drink from our new boreholes. When you see the evidence, you will realize that BAO is not a politician chasing applause — he is a leader delivering results. If you still choose to deny this, then your quarrel is not with him but with progress itself.

*My Loyalty: A Personal Conviction*
Let it be clear — my loyalty to Governor Biodun Oyebanji is personal, deliberate, and unshakable. It is not about political convenience; it is about recognizing a governor who has performed creditably, honored his promises, and respected his people.

Supporting BAO till 2030 is not just a political stance — it is my solemn conviction that continuity is the only way to secure and expand the gains we are witnessing today.

*BAO Till 2030: A Mandate for Progress*
From Ogotun to Igbara-Odo, our people know what they see, and they know what they want: more progress, more growth, and more stability. That is why the voice of the people is loud and clear — BAO till 2030.

This is not a slogan; it is a collective commitment to a future where every child, every farmer, every trader, and every family has the tools and opportunities to thrive. And with Governor Oyebanji at the helm, there will be no turning back.
