Fake Journalist to be prosecutes in Ekiti– CP

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Joseph Eribo, has confirmed that hard time await fake Journalists who usually impersonate law abiding members of the profession.

The Commissioner said anybody caught impersonating members of the profession will be arrest and prosecute by the police in the law court.

The Commissioner dropped the hint on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, during the monthly congress of the members Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State council.

The Ekiti State Police command helmsman described Journalism as a noble profession he love to be associate with at all the time as a police officer, urged members of the profession to join hands with in tackling the menace of quackery in the profession.

He solicited for a robust synergy between him and members of the journalism profession, saying that the move will achieve more good results in tackling the menace of quack and crime in the society.

“This is my third command, since Iwas promoted to the tank of Commissioner, Taraba, Akwa-Ibom and Ekiti States, this state has been so fantastic to me.

“I am here to work cordially with you, I pledged my own loyalty, I am here to work for you, nobody has the monopoly of everything, let us continue to work together and ensure a crime-free society in Ekiti State.

I urged you to uphold good stories you have been writing in Ekiti that will always projects the good image of our society and the police at large”

On the issue of logistics support on some activities of the Ekiti NUJ, the police boss assured them of the commitment of the police in the State under his watch and ensure more good and robust synergy between him and members of the media in Ekiti State.

Earlier, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, welcome the Commissioner to the congress, explained that the visit is a build up to what he called existing robust relationship between the Journalists and the police in the State.

Described the Commissioner as a friend and father, assured him of the supports of the media and ensure his success during his stay in Ekiti State.

He later solicited for the support of the Commissioner in ripping state of the activities of quackery and impersonation in the State.

Lamenting over the activities of those he called quackery and fake Journalists in the State, the Ekiti NIJ Chairman solicited the supports of the police boss in tackling the menace.
