High hopes as Sola Fayemi Emerges Social and Welfare Director of Ifaki Progressive Union, UK and Ireland Chapter

Detailed Acceptance Speech – Sunday, December 22,

Good evening, dear esteemed members of the Ifaki Progressive Union (IPU), UK and Ireland Chapter.

I stand before you today deeply humbled and profoundly grateful for the trust and confidence you have placed in me by electing me as your Social and Welfare Director, the first of its kind in the history of the Union. This honour is not just a recognition of my commitment to our great union but also a testament to the values and collective vision we all share for the progress and welfare of our Community.

Firstly, I wish to thank God for His grace and for making this day, our Quarterly meeting which doubles as the Election day possible. I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family, friends, and every member of this chapter for your unwavering support and encouragement. Your belief and unalloyed conviction in my ability to serve means the world to me, and I promise not to take it for granted.

To my fellow Executive members, I look forward to working hand in hand with each of you to fulfill our shared goals. Together, we will strive and continue to build a stronger, more connected community where every member feels valued, cared for and supported.

*The position of Social and Welfare Director is both an honor and a responsibility. It is a role that calls for seriousness, dedication, and a proactive approach to addressing the needs and welfare of our members. I assure you that I will commit myself wholeheartedly to fostering unity, providing meaningful support to our members as they settle in and navigate the complex system in the UK/Ireland, and creating and building on existing platforms where everyone feels heard, included, supported and loved. Whether it’s through organizing impactful events, offering assistance and supports to members in need, or being a bridge of communication, I am ready to serve with all my heart and strength.*

*Let us all remember that the strength of the Ifaki Progressive Union lies in our collective efforts and shared commitment to the progress of our people and Ifaki by extension. I encourage each one of us to actively participate the more, lend our voices, and bring our ideas to the table. Together, we can achieve great things for our chapter and contribute meaningfully to the well-being of our members and community both here in the UK/Ireland, and back home in Ifaki.*

Conclusively, I dedicate this role to all of you—the members of IPU—because without your support, none of this would be possible. Let us continue to work together as a family, with love, unity, and a shared purpose driving us forward.

Thank you once again for this incredible and noble opportunity to serve. May we all continue to shine as a beacon of hope and progress for our beloved Ifaki.

Thank you, and God bless you all.
