SPOTLIGHT ON BAO@2: Ekiti Special Schools

Governor Biodun Oyebanji is committed to ensuring quality education for all children in Ekiti, regardless of their physical or learning challenges. His administration has rolled out key initiatives to support special schools:

Enhancements of physical facilities and the provision of essential beddings and instructional materials.

Access to alternative formats of textbooks and other educational resources to cater to diverse learning needs.

EKSG has trained 103 special school teachers and caregivers, while 74 support staff were employed in 2024 as permanent members of the team.

The administration has also recruited therapists including speech, occupational, and physiotherapists, alongside rehabilitation scientists.

The three specialist schools in Ekiti are Government Special School for the Deaf Ikoro Ekiti,Government Special School for the Blind,Ikere Ekiti and
Government Special School for the Physically Challenged and Intellectual Disability, Ido Ekiti.

These efforts are part of a broader vision to create an inclusive society in Ekiti, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive in a conducive learning environment.
