Just In! Gunmen kill Woman in Ado-Ekiti, Making Four in One Month

A yet to be identified middle aged woman has been shot dead by unknown gunmen, bringing the number of the street shooting to four within one month in Ado-Ekiti.

Though, the Ekiti State Police Command made some arrests and paraded the suspects in the last week before the press.

The latest killing, which happened at a junction close to the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti Continuing Education Center, off, NTA road, Ado Ekiti this morning came as a rude shock to the residents and state in particular.

The incident, which involved a 50 year old woman, occured few minutes to 7am.

According to eye witnesses, the gunmen came on a bike and attempted to collect the bag of the woman who was standing by the road.

It was gathered that in the process of trying to resist the attempt to take her bag, the dare devil criminals shot at her and sped off.

The incident caused panic in the area as many scampered for safetysafety, forcing traders to hurriedly closed their shops and fled the scene.

When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, said it was more of a robbery incident, adding that the sum of N40,280 (forty thousand, two hundred and eighty naira) was found in her bag.

He said her body had been deposited in the morgue and the police is on the trail of the criminals.
