Alleged Kingpin Behind Kidnap of RCCG Pastor’s Wife Neutralized By Security Operatives

In a joint operation by the Kwara State Police Command and local vigilantes, an alleged kidnap kingpin has been gunned down in Elerinjare town, situated in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

Reported by the Nigerian Tribune, the operation, which took place on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, also resulted in the arrest of five suspected gang members. All five suspects, belonging to the Fulani ethnic group, were apprehended at their hideout.

The suspected kingpin was allegedly the mastermind behind the recent abduction of Mrs. Bola Ajiboye, the wife of RCCG pastor Johnson Ajiboye. This incident occurred approximately two weeks prior in Elerinjare town. After Mrs. Ajiboye’s abduction, a ransom of N1 million and foodstuff was paid to secure her release.

During the same incident, Pastor Oladipo, who was delivering the ransom, was also taken captive by the kidnappers. A demand for a N5 million ransom was made for Pastor Oladipo’s release.

However, on Tuesday, a vigilant team successfully raided the kidnappers’ hideout. In the ensuing encounter, the alleged kingpin was neutralized, and at least five other suspects were arrested.

According to reports, Pastor Johnson and Pastor Oladipo were part of the vigilante team that led the operation. Their involvement led to a confrontation, subsequent arrests, and the neutralization of the suspected kingpin.

While spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the arrest, the police are still awaiting a comprehensive report to confirm whether these suspects were indeed responsible for orchestrating the Elerinjare kidnapping incident.
