Why Opposition Parties Are Loosing More Members To APC In Ekiti- SSG
The Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro has revealed the reason behind the mass defection of members of the opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ekiti state.
Dr. Adubiaro who represented the state governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji at the official declaration of a prominent Social Democratic Party(SDP) leader, Mr. Ajayi Peter Rotimi popularly called APRO for APC at Ipole-Iloro Ekiti in Ekameta LCDA said that the impressive performance of the state governor within the shortest period of his assumption of office was responsible for the mass defection of opposition party members to the ruling party.
The SSG revealed further that the exemplary leadership style of govenor Oyebanji has made the ruling party to look more attractive for opposition party members to join.
“In the last few months we have been seeing how opposition party members have been defecting to our party in large numbers. Nothing could have been responsible for this mass defection than the impressive performance of our indefatigable Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji.
“At the just concluded retreat for our commissioners, the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr John Kayode Fayemi said that the governor has turned the state to a one party system with his impressive performance. This tells you more about the giant strides that have been recorded under this present administration in area of infrastructure, health, education and others”
The Academia turned politician commended the party leaders in Ipole-Iloro for their efforts towards the progress of the party and urged them to accommodate the decampee with his supporters who have just defected to the party.
“We thank the leaders of the party in Ipole-Iloro for how they have been seeing to affairs of the party. I just want to beg you to accommodate APRO and his team of supporters who have just defected to our party. Politics is a game of numbers and no one can disturb another”
Earlier, the Special Adviser to Ekiti state Governor on Political Matters and inter-party affairs, High Chief Jide in his remarks had commended Mr Rotimi and followers for deeming it fit to pinch their tent with the ruling party. He assured them of better treatment in the party.
The State Party Chairman of APC in Ekiti State, Barrister Paul Omotoso was among the party leaders that received the SDP members to the ruling party.
