According to her, “to ensure good marital adjustment, the husband and wife see themselves as learners for life and each spouse contributes to the success and longevity of the relationship. Both spouses learn to accept a mistake or fault and express apology and finally, see each other as being each other’s better choice”.

Specifically, Professor Ogunsanmi explained that observations indicated that the institution of marriage has faced a lot of problems, including problems which arise from wife/spouse employment or labour participation outside the home.

Saying since decades ago, yearly records of dissolution of marriages in the High Courts of Justice and Customary Courts in Nigeria, especially in Ekiti State have not been good news and that number of divorce cases granted at the courts has been a threat to the marriage institution.

Prof. Ogunsanmi however submitted that marriage enrichment programme should be regular in Community Counseling Clinics/Centres to encourage high marital adjustment between spouses in communities.
