An aspirant for the position of a local government chairman in the forthcoming local government election in Ekiti state Hon. Omotoso has condemned in strong terms the ugly incident that happened at Efon Alaaye where some members of the APC party were attacked and properties destroyed.
The astute politician who made this known in a telephone Chat with Heritage News said the act was a sad one while calling on relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure such ugly incident does not come to play in the nearest future.
” I received the news of the clash at Efon Alaaye and I can assure you that this is strange to the kind of politics I know. We are all members of the same party and as such we should see ourselves as families, elections should be done in accordance with the laws of the land in a very conducive atmosphere ”
Honorable Omotoso maintained that politicians and those aspiring for any post should emulate the Governor of the state Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji who through humility has been able to unite everyone even the oppositions in the state.
” we should all take a cue from Governor Abayomi Oyebanji who has shown every one how to play politics devoid of bitterness and thuggery. If the people love you they will surely vote for you based on character and competence and not when you intimidate those you think are opposed to you ”
While sympathizing with the victims Hon. Omotoso calls for calm as he urges members of the party to be united and stay focused as the local government elections kicks off later in the year.
The local government who vowed to lead by example and conduct himself peacefully throughout the electioneering and after, urged his fellow contestants and and politicians in Ado Ekiti and other local governments in Ekiti not avoid violence or whatever can result to violence during and after the election.
