Hijra: Gov. Oyebanji Sues For Love, Unity Among Muslims

…..Reassures fulfilment of his campaign promises

The Governor of Ekiti state, His Excellency, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has sued for love and unity among Muslim faithfuls.

Governor Oyebanji who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro made this call on Sunday at the celebration of this year’s Hijra which was organized by National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations(NACOMYO) Ekiti State chapter at Fajuyi Mini Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti.

The Governor in his message delivered by the SSG congratulated Muslims on the celebration of this year’s Hijra which marks the Islamic New Year. He rejoiced with them for being alive to witness another celebration of the migration of the Holy Prophet.

Oyebanji stated further by calling on Muslims to see the celebration of Hijra as an opportunity for self-reflection on areas that needs to be improved in our various life. He urged the adherent of Islamic faith to be united and show genuine love to one another in line with teaching of the Holy Quran.

The SSG on behalf of the Governor said, “Let me start by congratulating you on the celebration of Hijra which marks the beginning of the new Islamic year. This unique event which is widely celebrated is an opportunity for self-reflection on our past and how to make amendment to some of our inadequacies.

“One of the great lessons learnt from Hijrah is love and unity which is very crucial to the progress of our society. We can only make headway as a nation only if we stay united. So as good followers of Prophet Muhammed be united and show genuine love to one another”

The SSG used the opportunity provided by the occasion to reassure Muslims of Governor Oyebanji’s commitment towards the fulfillment of his campaign promises to them. She also highlighted some of the achievements that has been recorded by the Governor within the shortest period of assuming office.

” The Governor knows that he is yet to fulfil his promises to you. He asked me to tell you that all his promises won’t go unfulfilled. You should be patient with him.

“The Governor within the shortest period of his assumption of office has been able to put one or two things in place. This include the massive renovation of some deplorable roads in Ekiti. Prompt payment of salaries and arrears of civil servants. Payment of gratuities of pensioners and many others. The Governor has recently in fulfilment of his promise to boost local content policy and reduce capital flight decided to purchase vehicles from Ekiti State Auto dealers and Sallah rams from local livestock sellers in Ekiti”

At the occasion, the Grand Imam of Ekiti State and President General league of Imams and Alfas in Southwest including Edo and Delta, Alhaji Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere applauded Governor Oyebanji for his excellent performance and urged him not to relent in fulfilment of his campaign promises to those that entrusted him with their votes. The Grand-Imam called on Muslims to pray for the success of Governor Oyebanji’s administration.

The Hijrah celebration was full of activities which included presentation of awards to some eminent Muslims, giving out empowerment to the less privileged by Hon. Kunle Ibrahim, march past by students and Muslim organizations.
