Ekiti APC Ward Congress: Party Says Exercise, Peaceful, Free And Fair

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state has adjudged the just concluded ward congress in Ekiti state as free and fair.

This is coming on the heel of news going viral on social media that the ward congress is marred with violence.

In a signed statement through its Director, Media and Communications Caretaker Committee, Elder Samson Oluwalana, the party said, “We would like to state categorically that the exercise was overwhelmingly peaceful across the state and was a demonstration of our commitment to the principles and practice of democracy, as our members trooped out peacefully to elect executives of the party in the 177 wards in the state”

On the allegation of violence that was said to have marred the exercise, the party furthered clarified that, “Without prejudice to ongoing investigations by the Ekiti State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force, we would like to clarify issues around the isolated case of violence that occurred around the venue of the congress in Ward 10, Ado-Ekiti, which sadly resulted in the death of one person”

The party through its spokesperson furthered clarified that the yesterday’s disagreement which led to the death of one happened long after the congress ended.

The party commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured of proper investigation of the matter with a view to unearthing the perpetrators of the incident.
