How Police Lied, Killed My Husband- Wife of Late Police Officer Laments

The wife of Taiye Atobiloye Timothy, a Nigerian police inspector of the Kwara State Police Command, who died in cell after being detained for eight days for being absent from work has revealed that her husband wasn’t drunk as the DPO claimed.

speaking in an exclusive Interview with Punch newspapers, the wife of the deseased officer, Atobiloye Oluwabukola said what they told everyone that my husband is drunk is not like that, my husband wasn’t drunk, DPO lied. They just took him away from me and there is nothing I can do, it’s in the hand of God.

Oluwabukola added that before the death of her husband, he went to lokoja and before he went to lokoja he had an argument with DPO because it’s not her husband’s turn to go to lokaja, but he was forced to go there.

So when he got to lokoja, the DCP told him that he would give him signal to go back to Kwara state, so he was expecting him to come back, but her husband told her that the DPO had called the DCP that they should not allow him and they should not give him signal back to Kwara state that he doesn’t want to work.

Oluwabukola added that her husband had an accident some years back which affected his waist and his leg, he is still managing himself, so he took the doctor’s report to Lokoja so they can let him go, but they didn’t, so he had to come back to Kwara state after the fourth day, so after one week later, the DPO said he wants to put him in prison, because he left his work, they didn’t allow him to explain, they detained him.

She revealed that before her husband was thrown into prison, he called her and told her everything, so they abandoned him in the cell despite the fact he was sick,no food, no water, no doctor or nurse to treat him, they left him, he called him severally, nobody picked his phone until he died, when he died was when they called her to tell her to come and carry his body.
