The Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro has sought support and prayer for the Oyebanji’s administration at the Iftar she organized for Muslim faithfuls on Saturday.
The Iftar which was held at Lady Jibowu hall, government’s house, Ado-Ekiti was well attended by members from different Muslim organizations in Ekiti state such as NACOMYO, NASFAT, ALFATHU-L-QAREEB, ISBON and others.
Mrs Adubiaro in her brief remark applauded the state governor for giving recognition to Muslims in area of appointment. She stated further that though the Governor might not yet satisfy all their needs but has done more for them than had been done by previous administrations in the State.
The University Don called on Muslims to rally round the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and assured them of more dividend of democracy from the state government.
She said, “We Muslims in Ekiti state should be grateful to our governor, His Excellency, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for giving us the opportunity to serve in his administration. If the Governor has done otherwise by not giving us the opportunity to serve in his administration, what can we do that would had paid us better?
“For Governor Oyebanji to deem it fit to give us the leading role to play in his administration shows that he loves us and has a great respect for us.
All we need to do is to give the governor all the necessary support for him to excel in office”
The SSG also called on Muslims to use the remaining days in the month of Ramadan to pray for the success of Oyebanji’s administration.
“As the month of Ramadan is rounding off, let’s use the remaining days to pray for the success of the Governor in office. Let’s also pray for peace and prosperity of Ekiti state and Nigeria as a whole”
Earlier, the state coordinator of National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations(NACOMYO), Mr Yusuf Mudashiru commended the SSG for deeming it fit to organize Iftar for Muslims which he described as first of its kind since the appointment of Muslims into position of authority in the state. He also commended the state governor for giving appointments to reliable Muslims to serve in his administration.
The NACOMYO coordinator however called on the governor to do more for Muslims in area of appointment.
“This is the first time we are having a Muslim in the position of authority inviting us for iftar. This has never happened before. We are grateful to our SSG who is also our representative in this government for hosting us.
“Commendation must also be given to the governor for giving us recognition in his government but we still want more. Muslims are being marginalized which is not fair enough. So we want this present administration to balance up the equation”
Also the President of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Ekiti State, Alhaji Afolabi Bakare applauded the state governor for appointing real Muslims like the present SSG to serve in his government. He commended the SSG for representing them well and prayed for her success in office.
