Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji has commiserated with the family of Chief Bisi Egbeyemi.
Egbeyemi, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, after a brief illness.
Dr. Oyebanji whose visit to the home of the deceased on Sunday, coincided with a prayer session organised by the leadership of Ekiti State Anglican Communion was received by Chief Egbeyemi’s eldest child, Mrs. Bolaji Olagbaju.
In her brief remark after the prayer, she recalled her last encounter with the late deputy governor and the lessons therein.
“A week ago, Baba called that he wanted to see me and I came to him immediately I returned from my trip. We had a very deep discussion and he even walked me into the car. However, one important lesson I learnt is that we should not procrastinate anything we want to do. If I’d failed to yield Baba’s call on Tuesday, I wouldn’t have forgiven myself now that he’s no more.
“Baba has played his part, he played it well and posterity will always remember him for the impactful life he lived.”
The first lady described the late deputy governor as a consumate legal practitioner and community leader, who had a successful path in politics, culminating in his being elected and appointed into various positions, including; Chairman Ado Local Government, Commissioner for Education and Deputy Governor.
According to her, “Chief Egbeyemi is a touch bearer in Ado and a distinguished politician who made huge difference in the service of Ekiti State,”
She described the late politician as a “father figure and role model who would be remembered for his hard work and diligence in the service of humanity.”
Dr. Oyebanji prayed that God will grant the family of Chief Egbeyemi the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
