A former member of the Social Democratic Party,SDP, in Ekiti State and a candidate for the State House of Assembly, Mr Segun Abioye has condemned the low turn out that characterized the voting at his country-home, Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti South-West of the State.

Mr Abioye who spoke to the media after voting, said he would have contested for the State House of Assembly on the platform of the SDP, but after the meetings of the leaderships of the party and that of the All Progressives Congress,APC, he was appealed to, to step down for the APC candidate because according to him, “they discovered that the only party in the State is APC”.

He said, though he stepped down for an APC candidate, his people believed in him that he would have won the election, but had to succumb to the pressures of the leaderships of the two parties. The former legislature candidate remarked that the outing of voters was poor but the process was peaceful.

Speaking further on what could be accountable for the low turn out,Abioye said it could be because the house of assembly election was not holding alongside that of the governorship.
