Days To General Elections, SDP Members Defect To APC In Ekiti

Less than 4 days to 2023 general elections, members of Social Democratic Party(SDP) in Igede-Ekiti have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).

The former SDP members who were officially received into the ruling party by the Executive Chairman of Irepodun-Ifelodun local government, Hon. Babatola Ogundana at the APC local government party secretariat in Igede-Ekiti were led by former House of Assembly member, Hon. Churchill Adedipe.

In his brief, Churchil said he felt elated returning back to his former party, APC. The lawmaker stated further that he left APC then due to how the party treated him unfairly but has now let go his grievances.

The former lawmaker pledged that he and other decampees from SDP were ready to work for the victory of all APC candidates in the February 25, general elections. He sought forgiveness from those he might have offended .

“I am happy to be received back into the progressive fold. I don’t have much to say today because APC in Ekiti has now become one. I left APC then due to how I was treated unfairly which is normal in politics. When you are treated unfairly you have the right to show your grievances.

“All the issues I have with the party then has been resolved and I am fully back. Anyone that I might have offended should forgive me. Our major focus now is how to secure total victory for the party come February 25”

The local government chairman of Irepodun-Ifelodun who received the decampees with other party leaders present expressed his joy over the latest development in the party which is a clear indication that the opposition SDP has gone into extintion.

He welcomed the former SDP members into the party and assured them of better treatment.

“I am happy to welcome you into the progressive fold. We are happy to receive back one of us in person of Hon. Churchill Adedipe. What is happening today is a clear indication that SDP is no longer a force to reckon with in Ekiti state. It is also a sign of victory for our party APC come February 25.

“I want to assure you of better treatment in our party. You have become part of us”

Other party leaders who received the decampees were, Hon. Femi Akindele, Major Awe(rtd) and Hon. Shola Oluwatuyi.
