How Police Detained Me With Drip In My Hand, With My Pregnancy Over N20K, Bail

A 28-year-old nursing mother, Shola Sonowo, recently accused the police in Alonge Division, Lagos State, of detaining her with her pregnancy after she failed to pay the sum of N20,000 as bail fee.

Shola Sonowo made it known to the Punch Metro during an interview that there was a fight that ensued between herself and her neighbor that forced her into labor when she was eight months pregnant, making her spend about one month in the hospital due to the incident.

She reveals that on November 26, she was passing through her neighbor’s shop when her children began to abuse her, and this made her throw a sachet of water at them, which led to a brawl between them in which she was beaten and stripped naked, and this prompted her to land in the hospital.

However, while in the hospital, she heard that the police had gone to their house to arrest her mother because they didn’t find her at home without doing any investigation.

And upon hearing this, she went to the police station with the drip in her hand, and the police arrested her and stated that she must pay the sum of N20,000 for her bail, but her failure to meet up with the bail amount made them lock her up with her pregnancy without considering her health condition but still allowed other parties in the fight to go home.
