Most people you called and addressed as journalists are not. Journalism is a professional act.
You must be trained in it. But we equate columnists, writers and opinion makers in the media with journalists.
An ordinary OL holder with a certificate in Journalism from any accredited journalism institute is a professional while a Prof/ Lawyer / Linguist / Philosopher/ Historian,etc who has access to a page in a newspaper is an ordinary columnist…
