The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE 1, has described the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Dr.Kayode Fayemi and his wife Akorewolu Bisi Fayemi as a blessing to Ilawe Ekiti.
The Oba spoke in his palace while formally installing the Governor’s wife as the Akorewolu of Ilawe Ekiti. According to the monarch, it was during the Fayemi regime that he was appointed the Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers a feat that could not be achieved for several years by any Alawe because of challenges placed before them by some people who saw themselves as overlords.
Alawe specifically mentioned two Ilawe monarchs namely: Oba Afinbiokin and Oba Akinola Adefolalu who suffered humiliation because they were fighting for their rights as well refusing to surrender Ilawe independence to any overlord Oba elsewhere.
The Alawe noted that his appointment as the Chairman of the Ekiti monarchs lifted the image of Ilawe and Ekiti State in general.
Oba Ajibade Alabi stressed that the feat was achieved and he enjoyed the support of Governor Fayemi and the wife, the newly installed Akorewolu.
The Alawe commended Akorewolu Bisi Fayemi for her several efforts to stamp out Gender violence in Ekiti State.
He prayed that God would certainly reward the outgoing Governor and his wife with higher offices in the service of Nigeria.
In her response, the newly installed Akorewolu of Ilawe Ekiti Her Excellency Bisi Fayemi expressed gratitude to the Alawe and the people of Ilawe for the honour and promised to continue to support positive development in Ilawe .
“With this Chieftaincy, Iam now an indigene of Ilawe Ekiti and I will continue to support the community at all times”, Mrs Fayemi declared.
The Deputy Governor, Bisi Egbeyemi , the Governor elect , Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his wife were there.
Several Obas led by the Chairman of traditional rulers in Ekiti State the Onisan of Isan, HRM Oba Gabriel Adejuwon were at the canival like occasion which attracted top politicians and Government officials.
