The Ekiti State government has approved the appointment of Prince Adesanmi Michael as the new Ologotun of Ogotun-Ekiti in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Akin Omole, the Ekiti State Commissioner for information in a statement in Ado-Ekiti, said the government also approved the appointment of Prince Ojo Idowu as the new Alaaye of Aaye-Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government Area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that new Ologotun is from the Ojopekun ruling House while the new Alaaye is from the Ikumoluyi ruling House.
Omole disclosed that the approval was part of the decisions taken at the virtual meeting of the State Executive Council held on Wednesday.
According to him, this is after ascertaining that all required customary and legal steps had be taken to choose the new traditional rulers.
Omole stressed that the ratification of the appointments was made after clearance from the Ministry of Justice, saying that “it was consistent with the provisions of the Chiefs Law (2012) Cap C5 Law of Ekiti State.
He said that the Council also authorised the publication of legal notices of the appointments in the State official gazette.
The Commissioner recalled that the Ologotun’s throne became vacant on Sept. 29, 2021 following the demise of Oba Samuel Oyebade while the Alaaye’s stool became free in August 2021 sequel to the passing of Oba Theophilus Ogunbiyi of the Bejide Ruling House.
