The Rural Access Agricultural and Marketing Project- RAAMP, Project Coordinator in Benue State, Engr. Mone Aernyi, Wednesday inspected the construction of rural roads in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Among the roads inspected are 17.9KM Nagi-Enger-Tse-Adudu-Agbu City Road; and
Spot improvement of Yogbo Junction Tse-Kyumkpev – Yogbo village with spur to Tse- Gborogbo.
Project Coordinator of RAAMP in the state, Engr. Mone Aernyi who led journalists to the monitoring expressed satisfaction with the level of construction already done by the contractors.
Mone said that although insecurity in some of the areas has delayed the construction work, the state government has deployed security personnels to ensure that the Nagi-Enger-Tse-Adudu-Agbu City Road is completed.
The Coordinator revealed that although the rain has returned, he was optimistic that the project will be completed before the end of the year.
The Contractor handling the Nagi- Agbu City road project, Engr. Augustine Jando ofJafajea, said the project was stalled due to insecurity in the area but expressed optimism that with the presence of security agencies, the project will be completed.
On his part, the Contractor of Yogbo Junction Tse-Kyumkpev – Yogbo village with spur to Tse- Gborogbo, Engr. Onyeka Eze, and his Site Manager, Engr. Kumakwagh Philemon, all assured that the contract will be completed within the time specified.
Residents of the areas, the District Head of Mbachohon, Nicholas Nyibiam and Kindred Head Gbange-Tongov, Daniel Orfega, praised the state government for deploy security agencies to the area.
They said with the security formations in the area, the people will come back to continue their farming activities and support the contractor.
While those of Mbayemakem and On-Mbaaondo, Chief Daniel Deliga and Simon Igba, equally appreciated the state government as well as RAAMP for initiating the contract which according to them has opened up their areas.
They encouraged the contractor handling the project to complete the bridges before the return of the rains, saying without its completion, the terrain will be impassable.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman, Gwer-West Local Government Council, Hon. Mrs Grace Igbabon, thanked the government of Gov. Samuel Ortom for executing numerous projects in his area.
She lamented the insecurity in the area which has affected construction of some projects.
According to her with the presence of security agencies in some of the areas, it was partly safe for people to return.
