Stakeholders of some of the prospective participating teams in the forthcoming Ekiti Obas Cup Under 18 soccer Championship on Sunday met in Ado to deliberate on some issues prior to the tournament.
In attendance were coaches of some of the teams who signified interest to be part of the competition while others who did not come due to one reason or the other called to affirm their readiness to abide by the resolutions at the meeting .
The organizers informed those in attendance of efforts made thus far towards ensuring proper alignment with the State footbal Association and Local Football Councils at the various Local Government areas .
Organizers also briefed the gathering of efforts geared towards attracting sponsorship for the competition as well as the vision of the organizers for outstanding players and teams at the end of the tournament.
The prospective participating teams were given the opportunity to ask questions relating to the competition while suggestions from them were also welcomed.
After the deliberation, it was agreed that registration for the Ekiti Obas Cup shall officially commence on Friday April 1, 2022 while both parties agreed on the registration fee.
The Ekiti Obas Cup Under 18 male soccer competition is billed to kickoff on April 27 and end on May 31.
Having visited the palaces of some royal fathers during the first phase of the Trophy Tour, the second phase hopes to take the organizing committee to some other selected palaces based on request by the royal fathers while prominent personalities in the state shall also be visited prior to its commencement.
The Ekiti Obas Cup also known as Ekiti Unity Cup shall involve teams representing kings of various towns and communities across the state while almost 30 teams have already signified interest to participate out of the anticipated 32 teams, even though eligiblity to participate still depends on the teams that obtain registration forms and comply with due process.
