The Oodua Progressive Union (OPU), Brazil Chapter , yesterday sent a message of warning to the Police authorities in Nigeria over the alleged illegal detention of the members in Oyo State, Nigeria.
In a statement issued at the just concluded conference held in Brazil , 16th May, 2021, the executive members resolved at the possibilities of exposing the irregularities in Nigeria if it’s members arrested illegally are not released immediately . The group gave 7 days deadline , starting from today 17th,May 2021.
According to the President of OPU, Brazil chapter, Comrade Daniel Adebayo Majaro at the conference, “We will go to any extent and fight for the release of our members arrested illegally, we are tired of unlawful detentions, killings and illegalities in the land of our forefathers ” he said , and urged the Government of Nigeria or whosoever is responsible to intervene and release its arrested members within the stipulated period of time.

Also agitating at the conference, the Coordinator of OPU , Latin America, Comrade Ogunlowo Abiola Ezekiel (Coker) said that the OPU) in the Latin America is ready to fight against the government of Nigeria if the arrested members are not released in 7 days from now “ we will use all our mechanisms to get them freed if needs be “ he said.
The conference meeting was called to tackle the situations of its three members unlawfully arrested in Nigeria , they called for the immediate release of its detained comrades , Dauda Kazeem, Awodele Adedigba and Ramon Hassan. The three were detained shortly after the group founded by Iba Gani Adams handed over the dreaded kidnap kingpin, Abdullah Iskilu Wakili, to the police.
Known as Oodua father in Brazil, Babalawo Adegboyega Najeem said at the conference that the Oodua Progressive Union in Brazil is a strong and effective group with thousands of members in the Latin America, he said that the aim of its members here in Brazil is to alert the government of Nigeria that OPU in Brazil is also ready for action at any point in time .” Release our comrades , they are not criminals “ he reaffirmed.
Comrade Rasheed Ayodele (Ibadan) demonstrated his readiness to fight for the course of the Yoruba people, he urged the government of Nigeria to release the arrested OPC comrades with urgency.
The Saopaulo state coordinator, Comrade Babatunde Ajayi Obey said that the police authorities in Nigeria must release the three arrested comrades with immediate effect , he said that failure to do so might lead to the unexpected. He asked the police to do the needful and set the arrested comrades free.
Brazil , according to history , is having several millions of Afro-Brazilians who mostly are of the Yoruba Origin.
Alhaji Musibau Akanni and several other members present at the conference approved of the resolution , they urged the government of Nigeria to do the needful and set the arrested members free with immediate effect .
