Ekiti born footballer turn coach, Ojo Ige is still at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospiital-Ado Ekiti since May 14 when he escaped death by whiskers after he was dangerously knocked down on his private motorcycle along Afao road.
A visit to the hospiital two days ago (Wednesday 4th August , 2021) showed that the health of the former Ekiti United and Works Rangers player has really improved as he was responding to visitors’ comments and questions by either nodding or shaking his head.
His wife who was with him when the convener, Ekiti Sports Circle, Qozeem Oladapo visited Ige who is now a coach said he has been discharged and was supposed to have left the hospiital but their inability to pay up the medical bill was the reason they were still being held back.
She said at least the sum of Three Million Naira (₦3,000,000.00) was needed to offset the medical bill.
Recall that that over one million Naira was donated by friends, neighbours, team mates and loved ones shortly after the accident and all had gone into his revival from coma and rehabilitation.
Some of his friends who were with him pleaded with all Sports lovers and philanthropists not to relent by donating more funds for Ojo Ige to be discharged from hospiital.
Doctors at the ABUAD hospiital said even after being discharged, Ojo Ige would still have to come for treatment from home every two weeks to ensure full recovery.
