Fayemi Elevates 5,000 Council Workers In Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has promoted about 5,000 staff in the Local Government Service Commission of the state.

Heritagenewsng reports that their promotion was consequnce upon their success at the recently concluded promotion exercise.

The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Samuel Adewumi Abejide stated this while addressing some management staff of the Local Governments. According to him, the elevation was to boost the morale of the workers to enable them discharge their duties in the overall interest of fostering developments at the grassroots.

Mr. Abejide commended the State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for approving the elevation of the staff which he described as a right step in the right direction.

He recalled further that the Governor had earlier on appointed Executive Secretaries and Heads of Local Government Administration in the Local Government service which, he noted was to enable the staff to get to the peak of their career and render services effectively.

The Chairman disclosed that the beneficiaries which cut across different cadres included officers who were eligible for absorption and advancement.

He therefore challenged the workers to be alive to their duties adding “all hands must be on deck to restore the Ekiti values for the betterment of the people at the grassroot.

Speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary Mr. Tayo Olauyi, who described the elevation of the workers as timely appreciated the kind gesture of the Governor of Ekiti State. He gave the breakdown as follows: promotion- 2,715; advancement- 1,360 and absorption into the senior staff level- 945.

Mr. Olauyi assured the Chairman of the continued support and cooperation of the entire workforce to the administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi stressing that to whom much is given, much is expected.
