A new twist have been added to 2023 presidency as Mascot Uzor Kalu, the brother to the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has reportedly dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) to form a new political party, Action Peoples Party.
Though he was yet to reveal his reason for dumping the ruling party APC to form a new party, but heritagenewsng.com authoritatively gathered that it might not be unconnected with 2023 presidency.
However Senator Kalu, on Thursday, reacted to the development saying he was surprised as he was not informed.
Posting on his Facebook account, he said, “I have received several calls from friends, associates, political stakeholders and leaders of thoughts seeking my opinion on the defection of my brother, Mascot, from the APC to Action Peoples Party, APP.
“Sincerely, the National Chairman, two Deputy National Chairmen of our great party including the Senate President persuaded him to remain with the APC but he declined.
“I was surprised to hear that he alongside other stakeholders launched the new party, Action Peoples Party, APP, yesterday, in Umuahia without informing me.
“Well, I don’t have any issue with my brother; he has the right to take a decision on his political future, and, as a democrat, I acknowledge his right to determine his political affiliation and wish him well.”
Uzor Kalu concluded, “I remain the Chief Whip of the Senate and a committed member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“I am even more determined to serve my people and facilitate more dividends of democracy to them.”
Mascot Kalu is a former Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor and the APC candidate in the last by-election for the Aba North and Aba South federal constituency seats.
Reactions have since followed the new development on social media, just as many believed his action might not have been unconnected with the 2023 presidency and Igbo agenda.
