The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Ekiti State chapter has honoured the Speaker of Ekiti State, Rt. Hon. Barr. Adeoye Aribasoye, the Ekiti State Head of Service Engr. Sunday Olanrewaju Komolafe, and 68 of its committed members who just retired from the teaching profession.
The yearly celebration was put up by the union to appreciate its committed members who have impacted positively to the society.
The ASUSS Chairman in Ekiti state, Comrade Sola Adigun in his remark at the event said what began with fewer than 10 retirees has now evolved into grand celebration which serves as a testimony to the dedication and resilience of the teaching community.
The ASUSS Chairman stated further in his remark by sharing success of initiatives put up by the union to cater for the well-being of members such as land ownership, health insurance and group life assurance, where about eight million naira has been disbursed to 15 families of departed comrades.
“As we commemorate this special occasion, it is heartening to reflect on the growth of our celebration of retirees. What began with fewer than 10 retirees has now evolved into a grand celebration as we today honour 68 distinguished educators. This achievements is a testimony to the dedication and resilience of our teaching community.
“In our commitment to recognizing and valuing our educators, the union has implemented various welfare programmes, this evening we proudly share the success of initiatives such as our land ownership, health insurance and group life assurance, where about eight million naira has been disbursed to 15 families of our departed comrades”
As a form of appreciation for their years of commitment and contributions to the society, a sum of 3 million naira was splashed on the retirees by the union. Also five other distinguished personalities were bestowed with different meritorious awards.
They are the Speaker of Ekiti State, Rt.Hon. Barr. Aribasoye, who received the distinguished personality of the year, the Head of Service of Ekiti state, Engr. Komolafe equally received personality of the year award.
Master Oladeji Goodluck received the Ekiti State best student in ASUSS mathematics competition among public schools, also Master Oni Opemiposi Oluwatimilehin equally received the Ekiti State best student in ASUSS Essay Writing Competition among public schools.
Others honoured are: Hon. Olusegun Ikere , the Chairman , Ekiti West Local Government who received meritorious personality of the year award while Prince Michael Ogungbemi , the Chairman, Ajoni LCDA, who also received the meritorious personality of the year award among others.
I commend the ASUSS Chairman Ekiti State for the good vision he has towards tutors. I congratulate all the awardees.
