A chieftains of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ikole-Ekiti and also a former commissioner at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Chief John Olumuyiwa Filani has raised his concern over Nigeria’s political situation especially the 2023 presidential election.

At press conference with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Friday said as a politician he felt frustrated with the way things were going in Nigeria and cannot afford to sit on the fence but chips in his own views and as well justify his conviction on leadership qualities of APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“It gives me a great pleasure to speak with you on the State of the Nation and in particular, the forthcoming February and March general elections. This conference, I must say is basically my opinion and I expect questions, comments and suggestions thereafter.

“As a politician, I felt quite frustrated with the way things were going in this country. The political situation in Nigeria especially 2023 presidential election calls for concern in which one cannot continue to sit on the fence, hence I feel I should chip in my own views and as well justify my conviction on the leadership qualities of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu”

He stated further that the APC Presidential candidate still has one or two points very sacrosanct and genuine than other candidates.

The Ikole-Ekiti born politician admitted that though the ruling party might not have done well in some areas but optimistic that Asiwaju Tinubu would redeem the image of the party

“But I can’t continue to keep quiet because I don’t like sitting on the fence like Bola Ige said, I will just chip in my own opinion. People that will take it will take it and people that will reject will also do so.

“I sat down and I began to ruminate who amongst the four candidates can actually do the job better and I found out that Asiwaju Tinubu still stands a better candidate that has an edge above others.

“Asiwaju still has one or two points very sacrosanct and genuine than the other candidates so I am appealing to my constituent, Ekiti and Nigerians to vote wisely and vote Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu”

He furthered that, “I know APC has not done well in certain areas, but I can assure you Tinubu will redeem the image of APC”

The APC leader established the fact that if Asiwaju emerged as President, few of the policies of President Buhari would survive. He referenced to the laudable achievements of the Presidential candidate during his tenure as Governor of Lagos state. He added that what Asiwaju had been able to achieve surpassed his predecessors.

“I maintain that leadership is very key and as at now, there is little or nothing that Asiwaju Tinubu can do other than only to follow what the Presidency is dishing out because he is yet to have the mandate, therefore, if Tinubu becomes the President, am convinced that few of the policies of Buhari will survive because it will be changed by Bola Tinubu.

“Look at Lagos state, go and see what it was before 1999 and Bola Tinubu was not the only Governor of Lagos state, it was the efforts of all the governors that were there before but we know that during Bola Tinubu’s time, he tried his best just like others but we could count one, two, three and four achievements that ordinarily even a military government can not attain”

Chief Filani who used the opportunity provided by the press conference to declare himself as a full fledged member of APC because of Tinubu called on those that are yet to collect their PVC to do so before it is too late.

“And because of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and according to the constitution, before you can follow this man you have to join the party, I hereby declare that I am now a full fledged member of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti state and Nigeria, I am therefore encouraging and appealing to my people to go and get their PVC and come that election, I will vote APC and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President” said Filani.

The former Commissioner extolled the good virtues of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji and expressed optimism that he would perform up to expectation. He pledged his total support for his administration.

“Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, who is the current number one man in Ekiti today is a cool headed and intelligent young man who will perform excellently in the state and as God fearing person, a gentle, kind, loving and very respectful, who also commands the respect of all Ekiti elders, and he has my full support with our prayers for a successful tenure”
