#200,000 Contract: I Can’t Cheapen Myself To Fight For Such Ridiculous Amount-Says Masevex

..Blasts Organizers For Belittling His Title

The Current National Light Heavyweight Champion in Nigeria, Adewale Masebinu, otherwise known on stage as Masevex has lambasted the organizer of the GOTV Boxing night which was slated for today December 24, 2021 in Lagos for offering him a ridiculous amount of N200,000 to come and defend his title.

Masevex described this as very unfortunate and uncalled for, to be offered such a ridiculous amount of money as contract sum to come and defend his National Light Heavyweight title.

 

Speaking in an interview with the heritagenewsng, Masevex lamented that he turned down the contract because of the ridiculous amount of money he was offered.

He denounced the rumour that he is afraid of his challenger, adding that he withdrew not because he was afraid to fight, boasting that he remained unbeatable.

“Me afraid ke! afraid of who? I remain the National Light Heavyweight Champion, nobody can beat me, except that I am  moving up for the higher titles.” He boasted.

Masevex however revealed that if he had accepted the N200,000 contract, he would be left with only N100,000 at the end of the day which can not be be enough to take care of his training expenses not to talk of taking care of his fans.

He disclosed that he had initially accepted the fight before he later learnt of the ridiculous amount being offered, despite the fact that the invitation came too late.

“I was called for a press conference of a fight which the contract was not made available to me before the press conference which was held on 1st of December. As a matter of fact, the contract was sent to me seven days after the press conference, which was 7th, December 2021.

“As a result I was not able to honour the invitation to defend my title. The organizers offer was ridiculous. I was offered N200,000 out of which Nigeria Boxing board of control will deduct, My manager will deduct, and my coach collect equally will deduct.

“At end of the day I would be left with only N100,000 which is not enough to settle my fans or take care of my training expenses and my other expenditures. I hope to honour subsequent invitations if the conditions are reasonable”.

The Ekiti born boxing champion however apologized to his fans, saying, “my apology to my fans, while I aim for a bigger shot in 2022. You can follow me on Instagram Adewale Masebinu.

“I assure you all my fans that I remain unbeatable. I shall continue to train hard until I achieve my aim, My focus is to win the WBA, WBO and IBF and bring honour to Ekiti and Nigeria, I urged you all my fans to continue to support me, I shall not let you down ,” he assured.
